Proofreading is completed once the book has been formatted. A proofreader will check for any last minute spelling and grammar mistakes (and trust me, there is always a couple that slip through), but they will ensure that the formatting hasn’t left out any words or missed a page number.

You can see when a book is formatted, the graphic designers are working with the words as a whole, not individually.
